Wedding Vows
SAMPLE VOWS - use as is, recreate your own. Let me know what option you like the best or combine several as you wish.
OPTION 1 - Traditional
I, _______, take you _______ to be my (husband/wife). In the presence of God, our family and friends, I promise to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, in happiness as well as in sadness. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your aspirations, and to honor and respect you. This is my promise to you always.
OPTION 2
I, ______ take you ______ as my (wife/husband) and vow to be mindful in our journey together, to love you and to cherish you, to trust in the Universal Soul, to have belief in my heart and faith in my mind. From this day forward our souls will be one.
OPTION 3
_______, I promise to walk together through life as partners and best friends. I promise that I will always do my best to love and accept you exactly as you are. I give you your freedom and my trust in you. I give you my heart until the end of time.
OPTION 4

Even if all the stars fall from the sky and the world ends I will always love you. today, tomorrow, forever.
(name), our journey to this point has been unique and despite the challenges I would not change anything about it. I don’t think either of us knew our first date was our first date. We went to Zia Records, rolled through a Dutch Bros drive through, and drove around Phoenix aimlessly. We used our common interest of records to find a way to spend an hour or two shopping together, but I don’t think either of us wanted that day to end. Fast-forward about a year and a half later and we are engaged on our first vacation together. We spent our first year of college apart, the most difficult challenge we have faced together to date, and we knew we didn’t want to spend any more time apart. It was a long engagement, and I know in your mind it was too long, way too long. I promised you we would get married after we graduated, and entering our senior year, our third year of engagement, we were starting to get ideas of how we wanted tonight to go. The world had other plans though, and COVID forced us to reevaluate. A promise is a promise though, so we married in the legal sense in January 2021. I intend to keep many more promises like that to you over the course of our lives. First and most importantly, I promise to be by your side for the rest of our lives. We’ll experience the highs and lows life offers together. I promise that our journey will never end, and we’ll continue to explore wherever we desire together. Our story is still just getting started. I promise to be not just your husband, but your best friend. There is not one person I want to spend my days with more than you. I promise that I will continue to learn and grow for you. To miraculously learn how to cook meals for us, and one day learn home improvement. But lastly, I promise to always give you my all. To always make you my number one priority. You deserve the world, and I am so lucky to be standing here today alongside you.
Another example of a vows written ….
My whole life I’ve been enamored with words - the words of authors who painted pictures in my imagination, the lyrics of musicians who have created the soundtrack of my life, the encouragement of mentors who always said I could do anything I dreamed, and most importantly, the voices of loved ones who have helped shape my being. I whole heartedly believe our words are our truth, our window to the soul, and today our words will be our promises to one another.
I know sometimes I have too many words, and at other times, none at all. I vow to you to find my words when they’ve escaped me, and share my words even when it’s difficult, and to always build you up with all the best words this language has to offer. I’ll echo your words in moments of pure genius and give you a look when words aren’t necessary. I promise I’ll speak the words “I love you,” until I wear them out.
Our skin may wrinkle, our hair will gray, and our memories might fade, but our words will always keep us bonded- yesterday, today, tomorrow and always.
A non-traditional example of vows …
Instead of traditional vows, I have identified some values that I think make us work, and will continue to do so:
Loyalty: I vow to do right by you and remain loyal to us and our relationship above all else
Honesty: I vow to tell you how it is, even if it's not always what you may want to hear
Respect: I vow to always look for common ground, and respect our differences
Communication: I vow to always listen to you, make you feel heard, and speak up when i have needs as well
Patience: I vow to be patient, even when things aren’t perfect
Acceptance: I vow to accept you for who you are; to be supportive of your personal growth, and never ask you to change who you are for me
Effort: I vow to always make US a priority
Support: I vow to support you in all aspects of our life, in any way I can.
Growth: I vow to continuously grow with you. Never to become complacent in our habits. And always changing with better in mind.
Dreams: I vow to share my dreams with you. Encourage you to follow yours. And continuously accomplish and build on ours together.
_________, being with you is having a sleepover with my best friend every night. It’s staying up late and getting up early because every second of the day still wouldn’t be enough time with you. It's knowing that life can be tough sometimes, but I'll never have to face those challenges alone. It’s finding a piece of me I didn’t even know I was missing in someone else. Its having someone to laugh with...when people walk into locked doors. It’s having someone I can always count on. I love you today, tomorrow and everyday with you.
